Buccellati Presents: ART IN GOLD AND SILVER, An exhibition of timeless Jewels and Silver

Thursday, December 04, 2008
6:30-8:30 pm

The Buccellati name has been known in the jewelry and silver world since the mid-eighteenth century, when Contardo Buccellati had a shop in Via degli Orafi in Milano.

Mario Buccellati officially started the present House in 1919. He took over the business from his relatives where he had started to work as an apprentice before World War I.

Since the beginning, the “Buccellati Style” won the favor of the most discriminating clientele, including the royal houses of Italy, Spain, Belgium and Egypt, as well as the Vatican.

The business flourished and Mario opened shops in Rome and Florence before WWII, and in New York and Palm Beach after the war. Upon his death in 1965, the business was taken over by his four oldest sons. Gianmaria and Luca maintained the company’ atelier and the production of jewelry and, working together, expanded the company globally.

Buccellati still handcrafts its jewelry, watches and silver based on an original design by Gianmaria and his son Andrea, with skilled employee artisans that are considered the finest in Italy and masters of the Buccellati technique.
