Peter Ueberroth
Just returning from the Beijing Olympics, Peter Ueberroth, successful entrepreneur, investor, former Baseball Commissioner and current United States Olympic Committee Chairman, will share his insights on what it takes to be a winner in both the business world and on the field.
Mr. Ueberroth has been Managing Director of Contrarian Group Inc., an investment and management company that invests in small and medium size companies and takes a management role providing strategic guidance, since 1990. In July 1999, Ueberroth successfully orchestrated the purchase of the Pebble Beach Company, bringing it back to U.S. ownership after years of foreign ownership, and is its Owner and Co-Chairman. Ueberroth served as the sixth Commissioner of Major League Baseball from 1984 to 1989. From 1980 to 1984, he was President of the Los Angeles Olympic Organizing Committee (LAOOC), the private non-profit organization responsible for staging and operating the 1984 Los Angeles Olympic Games. Under Ueberroth’s leadership and management, the first privately financed Olympic Games resulted in a surplus of $238million that continues to support youth and sports programs throughout the United States. In 1962, Ueberroth founded First Travel Corporation. When he sold the company in 1980, it was the second largest travel business in North America with more than 300 wholly owned retail travel agencies. Ueberroth was named 1984 Man of the Year by Time Magazine and The Sporting News,has been awarded the French Legion de’Honneur and is one of two Americans to ever receive the Olympic Order-Gold from the International Olympic Committee. He is the author of “Made in America”, a bestseller published in 1985 by William Morrow. Ueberroth serves as Co-Chairman of the Board of Ambassadors International (AMIE).

- Mr. Ueberroth was a member of the Young President’s Organization for 22 years, serving as it’s International President in 1981
- Ueberroth served as Co-Grand Marshall, along with Rosa Parks, of the inaugural Martin Luther King Parade
- The American Academy of Arts & Sciences - elected as a Fellow in 2004
