ZINO Society Spurring Investments, 12 Life Sciences Companies to vie for $50,000 ZINO Life Fund

SEATTLE —February 10, 2009—A $50,000 investment fund will be awarded to the best investment opportunity at the ZINO Society and Washington Biotechnology and Biomedical Association inaugural  ZINO Life: Life Sciences Investment Forum, to be held February 24, 2009, 2:00-6:00pm at the Pan Pacific Hotel in Seattle.

 
Accredited investors, entrepreneurs, and business leaders are invited to attend the ZINO Life:  Life Sciences Investment Forum.  There will be seven-minute presentations by 12 life sciences (medical devices, therapeutics, biotechnology, healthcare IT and diagnostics) entrepreneurs for the 75-100 people attending.  “All entrepreneurs are competing for a $50,000 investment fund that we have put together among a few ZINO Society angel investors.  Of course in addition to the fund, any of these investors or other interested investors are welcome to invest directly with any presenting company,” remarked Cathi Hatch, ZINO Society Founder and CEO.
 
VIP speakers and panelists include Bruce Montgomery of Gilead, Bruce Carter, previously CEO of Zymogenetics, Stewart Parker, previously CEO of Targeted Genetics and Alan Smith of Fenwick &West.

Three of the 12 entrepreneurs will be selected as finalists to participate in Due Diligence LIVE! To help investors make investing decisions, Due Diligence LIVE! includes expert panelists asking selected follow up questions  Additionally, one of the “ZINO Zenith People’s Choice” awards will determine which of the finalists will be selected to participate in Invest Northwest, an investment forum partnership between ZINO Society and WBBA to be held in March.  The ZINO Life fund investors will undertake additional due diligence following ZINO Life to decide within thirty days which company will get the investment fund. The afternoon will conclude with a wine reception featuring new vintner, Wines of Substance, an awards ceremony and the opportunity for angel investors and entrepreneurs to interact one on one.
